Empowering STEM Education Professionals Programme

On 26 May 2023, a team of Westwood Science educators won an award for the STEM lesson plan submitted for the Empowering STEM Education Professionals Programme 2022/2023. The theme for the Empowering STEM Education Professionals Programme 2022/2023 is “Think like a __, Design like a __”.

In Westwood, we believe that thinking and doing are important aspects of problem solving and idea generation to come up with a product or solution that positively enhances the community. Engagement in scientific reasoning sharpens students’ abilities to form logical and coherent arguments while applying subject matter knowledge. The team designed the STEM lesson using a design thinking approach beginning with empathy for the user(s). We hope that all Westwoodians will learn to think with both their heads and hearts in their learning journey at Westwood Primary.
